My whole life, I've always heard my Michigan family (my mom's side mostly live around the Detroit area) talk about going 'up north' for long weekends or vacations. I never knew what that meant until this past July when I finnnnaaaallllyyy got to go to northern Michigan for my cousin Nickole's wedding in Traverse City. The venue was gorgeous, the set up was peaceful, and I got to spend time with my family. All. good. things. So much joy!
My gal, hair and makeup extraordinaire, Carley Brooks accompanied me on the trip since Chris couldn't come. She did Nickole's hair for the wedding and she got to meet my family, which was I'm sure a hilarious cultural experience for her- blonde haired, blue eyed girl in a sea of dark haired Arabs, complete with lots of foreign languages and ethnic music. We had THE best time exploring, climbing sand dunes, shopping EATING, pit stopping in Chicago, and the peak of the trip- scheming how to get her onto the Bachelor (YAYY Ben H!!!)
Below are beautiful images (plus a few of my own iphone pics...) from Jodi of Giving Tree Photography. All the people you'll see in the photos are family. I know I'm biased but how stinking gorgeous are they?! The kids (especially the kids!) the cousins, my grandfather, everyone. It was such a dreamy experience and us Kentucky folk are definitely hooked on northern MI!
