*A Note: This is a real wedding, not a styled shoot even though Skye & Trey should probably become models for a living. They are one of the most effortlessly beautiful couples I've ever seen and their wedding was equally gorgeous.
Skye & I lived across the hall in the dorm our freshman year at UK (K4 WHOOP WHOOP) and after multiple 'whoa this is a small world' connections I came to be a part of her wedding. Skye had killer taste and a solid vision. Since she was planning her wedding from NYC, she asked me to step in to do event design and florals. With coordination assistance from Melissa Croft of Brady & Co , a beautiful custom gown from Houghton (accompanied by Jimmy Choo) some natural beauty from Claire De Lune & Coral Charm and the most incredibly PERFECT Kentucky spring weather, this chic wedding at Hermitage Farm went off without a hitch. We brought in furniture from Canvas Rentals, styled up a bourbon bar and cigar lounge (with props from my prop shop), constructed a boxwood wall (with a custom monogrammed wood plaque) and dressed a ceremony arch made by Skye's dad.
Wiltshire Pantry has been a long favorite of mine, and the family style meal they created took my breath away. It tasted as fresh and lovely as it looked in the pictures below! Along with Wiltshire, we had such a fun group on board the day of- Bekah of High Fancy Paper, who created all the paper goods for this wedding, came up from Nashville to see her art come to life. Whitney Neal captured all the stunning images below and her sister, my sister-in-law, Taylor assisted. And of course, I can't say enough about my teammates. Chris built the boxwood wall and along with about 7 other people, we poked styrofoam panels with boxwood pieces for days. Big high five to all who helped with such a tedious task- Mom, Marissa, Kristina, Kate, Melissa, Andrea, Bekah, Kat (who helped keep my head on straight!) and Alex (who dismantled it with a sledge hammer...) Huge thanks to all the day of helpers too- Amanda Jacobs, my interior design specialist, rocked out styling the bourbon bar and cigar lounge in the most perfect way possible!
The laid-back nature of the wedding day made things run so smoothly. They had friends hanging out and grilling all afternoon, while Louie, Skye & Trey's precious doggie, ran around and enjoyed the farm. It was such a memorable day for all of us- it totally shows how the bride and groom's disposition sets the tone for the entire event. My best advice to brides- just relax and have fun or you won't even remember it!
