The Elysian Workshop
We were in Mykonos for The Elysian Workshop (a photography workshop we were styling/designing) a couple days before it began. We shopped and prepped welcome bags, foraged for flowers and explored Mykonostown to find the church we were doing one of our photoshoots in.
The photos in the image below are collected finds from a flea market in Athens and stationery that we intended to use in our Church + Sea shoot.
We went to Greece without ordering any flowers for the photoshoots. We wanted to use whatever local stuff was around. We ended up foraging everything, including olive branches from a recently cut down olive tree set out of the garbage. Gotta do what ya gotta do!
There were wild red poppies everywhere, lavender, weed looking things and all kinds of other greeneries. While I hate foraging because I really dislike the bugs, I do love how the process of it has opened my eyes to really look at the world around me. It has definitely changed my perspective on foliage, gardening and sidewalk weeds for the better.
After the dreamy shot from above, we nearly got chased by a huge dog and had to have someone come pick us up from our hiding spot. Those are the kinds of things you don't see on Instagram, haha.
Amanda and I even took a moment to put our feet in the *freezing* sea while we were out hunting for blooms.
The following three days consisted of three shoots, a lot of scouting, meal prepping and organizing. Below is a photo of our welcome bags for all the attendees!
Here is Amanda making arrangements with our foraged flowers for the welcome dinner.
Below are photos from shoot #1 - Church & Sea. It was one of the most personal shoots I’ve ever done and I absolutely loved every moment.
Below are photos from our second shoot of the workshop - a beautiful, ethereal dress and bride plus foraged blooms, Greek pastries and vintage trinkets.
Our third shoot was a ‘honeymoon session’ with our previous bride and groom at the historic windmills of Mykonos.
Mykonos was incredible, even in the off season! Can’t wait to share professional photos with you!!
