So so SO much has happened thus far in 2016. I’ve planned, designed, and flowered many many weddings, flew to Nepal for a workshop, AND found out we are expecting a baby in January!! The latter is definitely the most life changing, and, as it should, really got me thinking about the future of my business. When I first started this whole endeavor in 2010, I had no idea I’d transition from wedding planner to floral designer to event designer, and back to planner. Florals took over for a bit, which at the time I absolutely loved. I learned more than I could have ever imagined, but I discovered my real desire was to be the planner, designer, floraler, AND counselor to all of my brides. So, after wrestling with the idea for nearly a year, I have decided that I will no longer take on a la cart florals after June 2017. I will continue to do in-house florals for all the weddings I plan, but in order to give my brides everything I’ve got, it’s in everyone’s best interest that I scale back a bit. I feel extremely at peace with this decision, finally, especially since Louisville has grown so much in the floral design world since I started. If you are a bride intending to inquire about floral design services, please feel free to reach out and I will give you the names of all my friends in this town- you won’t be disappointed!
Now, back to the baby thing. Baby Journey will be here sometime in January, which is ideal for anyone in the local wedding world since it’s our off season! I will take a short maternity leave and be back in business at the end of March. I know this is about to rock our world and I cannot wait to see things change for the better!!
Life is funny. After thinking through what life will look like over the next year, I will be accepting floral only jobs through the end of 2017. 🙂
